Hey guys. Today I bought the first and second editions of Millionaire for the PC (sold in the United States). When I put the game into the computer (Windows 8), it asks if I want it to make changes to the system. I click "Yes". Then I am brought to this screen. Without hesitation, I click "Install Now". A section from the "contestant introduction" cue plays, and the window closes. Nothing happens. I have this problem with both games. I made sure the disc was clean and dry and free of scratches before putting it into the DVD drive. I closed all recurring programs as well. I've looked around and I cannot find a solution to this problem. Can you guys please help me? I really want to play! Thank you, I hope to hear from you soon.

You're running this game in Windows 8? Sorry. You won't run the 1st and 2nd US editions in any system newer than Windows XP. The only way to run such games is either have Windows XP or 98, or if you don't want to do it at your own risk, there's ALWAYS virtual machines to emulate vintage systems such as Windows 9x on your high-end PCs without infecting your system files on your Windows 8.

Oh wow, thanks @paolo16gula! Hopefully I still have access to Windows XP though...
Are there any system requirements for the British 2nd edition PC game (with the 3D Chris Tarrant)? I just ordered it.

Run in compatibility mode, if that still works.

I happen to have the Kids Edition which I've had for years and it works absolutely fine on Windows 7. @paolo16gula have you tried running the 1st and 2nd editions on Windows Vista and 7?, because I've got a haunch that they work with those OS's but I could be wrong. ben, is you're OS 64-Bit? Maybe it's something to do with that as well.

Yes, I tried to run them in my Windows 7 and doesn't matter if it's on the 32-bit or the 64-bit system, you won't run them. Same goes with "You Don't Know Jack: the 5th Dementia" (made by the same developers who also made all US Millionaire PC/MAC games: Jellyvision, now known as Jackbox Games); you won't run it in Windows Vista/7 even if it's on a 32-bit technology. Are there any system requirements for the British 2nd edition PC game (with the 3D Chris Tarrant)? I just ordered it. Consider yourself cheated, ben. The UK 2nd Edition PC game IS NOT the same as the one with 3D host. It's the PS2 version of the game which features 3D Chris Tarrant reading the questions along with the 3D Millionaire set. All I can say is... do some extensive research before making your Final Answer.

@paolo16gula, I think it's you who had the bad luck with the software. I just re-installed all the PC games on my Windows 7 machine (1st edition, 2nd, 3rd, kids, & sports). ben I did have a similar issue with installing the sports game but it was an easy fix for me. Go to Computer...right click on the disc..."open autoplay" as opposed to the bold option of "Install or run program from your media." Try that.

You know I do have to agree with FinalAnswer19. I'm sure all of us have different experiences with a specific software. Those classic millionaire pc games on newer OS's will work for some and for others it won't. That's just how it goes I guess. So ben, If you happen to have Windows Vista or 7 on whatever you have, just try to install it (then play it if you can) and see what happens. It's at least worth a try.

Now I have become very confused...
OK, I'll simplify this crazy situation. I thought the PC version was the same as the PS2 version with the 3D host, and I was wrong. Too late though, I ordered the PC version already, which has Tarrant's voice and a 3D studio.
My research was incorrect.
But just for kicks... how do I use PS2 emulator so I can download the game I thought I was getting?

The ISO file, I tried searching it and there's no solution, sorry. For the emulator use PCSX2, it's the one I use for playing UK's TWL.

For the emulator use PCSX2, it's the one I use for playing UK's TWL. I did, I don't know how to use it. Anyway, I didn't install the first game on Windows 8, and it worked (because I opened it from inside the game's files), but Regis' voice was often interrupted, and the music wasn't playing smoothly (the opening titles were fine, though). As soon as I got into the computer for the first question, the game stopped. The second had issues with DirectShow. I didn't install this either. I successfully installed both games on Windows 7. When I tried to play the first one from the Start menu, I got to the Millionaire game menu (can be seen in an earlier post) and pressed Play. When I did that, a wild "JellyEngine" appeared, and did nothing. When I tried to open the game within the games files, it said it couldn't use DirectShow. Same with the Second Edition. Long story short, I still can't play these games. Hopefully soon, I can try them on Windows XP. I'll tell you what happens once I do. If there are any other solutions, please do not hesitate to tell me.
