I bought the UK 2nd edition PC game recently and I installed it without a hitch on my Windows 7 OS. I was however disappointed as it is quite poorly made as all it does is rotate the camera around a studio which isn't particularly impressive, but on the other hand I like that the host, Chris talks to you similar to other versions.
Offtopic ~ I have always hated Windows 8 loads as it simply was not designed for the classic, traditional mouse and keyboard approach and I feel is certainly just optimised for Touch based devices like the Surface Tablet. I think that it is stupid that Microsoft would make such an awful decision to steer away from the interface that served them well in the years, and to be honest Windows 7 is a much easier way to get things done.

Actually I just suddenly remembered something, however I will double post as they are quite different comments. Have you ever thought of "Windows XP Mode"? Basically, what it is is a program which runs in a Virtual Machine and it emulates Windows XP. If I remember correctly it was a program created by Microsoft themselves so that old, legacy software from old Operating systems would still continue to work on their later, improved platforms. I think this could seriously help you as it was a program which is specifically designed for people like you. I imagine that it is still available from the Microsoft website.. By the way it was originally brought out for Windows 7 for the Professional and Ultimate customers, (I am a Pro user!) as they considered it to be an important business product, however hopefully you should not have to much trouble obtaining it with windows 8, like I said have a look on line for some guides to install the program and hopefully, with luck you should be able to get those games of yours to function!

Hello everyone, I return to this thread a year later, unfortunately, with some new issues. Before I get into that, though, I need to tell you this information: - I now operate on a Windows 10 laptop computer. - I never received the UK 2nd edition game. After a month and a half of waiting, I discovered that the seller did not have the product. I was later refunded the money. - During the inactivity of this thread, I purchased the US sports edition and the UK 1st edition. (The sports game works.) - The US 1st edition, when fully installed on my new computer, still cannot use DirectShow. The US 2nd edition, also fully installed, is now "unable to use DirectDraw with 16-bit graphics". Okay. Today I'm trying to fix the UK game's issues. I successfully installed the game. When I try to start the game, I am greeted with this asterisk: I find it strange to see this, considering I am the administrator of my computer. If you have any suggestions for this game, or any other games I've tried to troubleshoot, do not hesitate to tell me. Thank you.

I'm not sure why the UK game won't work, have you tried giving it admin rights via the compatibility tab? Regarding DirectSHow and DirectDraw, they are both parts of DirectX that Microsoft has removed in recent years. If we can figure out what the last version of Windows those two games worked on, someone on here (including myself) should be able to get you the installer for the version DirectX it had.

roboboyIn regards to the 1st and 2nd American games, I can tell you that it doesn't work on Windows 7 or Windows 8. I haven't access to any other operating systems. As for the UK game, where can I find the compatibility tab? Thanks, Ben

You can find the compatibility tab by right clicking the shortcut or the main executable of the game and clicking properties.

roboboy , I found the compatibility tab and chose to run the program as an administrator. The "Access Denied" error no longer appears. However, when I click "Yes" on the User Account Control error ("Do you want this to make changes to your computer?"), the game won't start. Any ideas? edit: I'm now noticing that the sports game will not start. The only way to get it to work is to uninstall and reinstall the game.

I'll bring up my own problems with the US 2nd edition since this seems to be the only place to discuss the issue in 2016. For reference, I also own the US kids edition and they work fine on Windows 10 and Windows 8 without needing compatibility fixes.
I bought a factory sealed copy of the game from Ebay and it was brand new, and even came with AOL Gold Version 5.0. I plop in the disc inside my Windows 10 computer, installs fine, i give it the restart, and then i start it up. And very instantly, problems arise. The game starts up fine, the music of the logos work, the intro fmv works fine, and then all of a sudden, Regis talks like a chipmunk on meth. Then more arose. While the intro is the only part of the game regis talks very fast, the rest have him get chopped off a second into an audio file. This caused major issues, like multiplayer freezing the game, instructions freezing the game, phone-a-friend freezing the game, it was bad. On top of that, the game did a windowed fullscreen that put the window very small, though forcing it to run in 640 x 480 fixed that one issue. So either the game's coding is bugged to where the audio cue timing is way off, or my processor is a bit too fast.
The windows 8 computer refused to run no matter what. It installed fine, i gave it the restart, i start it up, it gives a black screen for 5 seconds, it CTDs, and no fix i've done has made it work. The only error thread i saw was Could Not Initialize JellyEngine or something like that.
What I'm asking now is, how would one fix the Windows 10 bug so I can have a machine that this game runs on?

The only thing I can think of to recommend is try running it in a virtual machine with an earlier copy of Windows (perhaps Windows XP).
