I was taken a bit off guard today. I turned my local NBC channel on, the one that Millionaire comes on, and to my surprise, an older clock format episode came on. I had the TV on yesterday and I'm almost sure yesterday's episode was a shuffle episode even though I wasn't watching it. Did anybody else happen to see this today? It really brought back memories seeing Millionaire in its almost classic form.
Another interesting topic, how would it sit with you guys if the clock format returned but a jump the question lifeline was introduced after you answer the first five questions, similar to how Ask the Expert was while Phone a Friend was still active. It'd still act as it does now, you don't have to answer the question but you lose out on that question amount.

Most of the show included a Texan named Roger who is 2 questions (now) away from Round 2 and still can jump one question. I believe the show began with another person who jumped over the 2 highest values. If I'm wrong, anyone, please correct me.

Sounds like your local affiliate goofed. Although seeing the clock format is never a bad thing.
And while I used to be against Jump the Question in a non-Shuffle game, I'm starting to change my mind. Being able to jump one of the 15 questions in the stack would add a very exciting element to the game.

You bet Regisfan, and it seems very capable to be an excellent 4th lifeline if the Clock Format was still being used. The only question that may arise is if a contestant jumps a $5,000 or $25,000 question. Will they be able to have that money guaranteed or not? If someone, let's say, jumped the $16,000 question and walked away on the next question, they'd probably get $8,000. What if someone jumped the $25,000 question and answered it incorrectly?

It's hard to say what happened, but when the show went to the first commercial break, it showed an advertisement for the new Millionaire shuffle game for the cell phone or whatever. So that's what had me confused, and it played all the way through. It didn't just stop or have something else come on. I'll have to see what happens tomorrow.

Maybe for some reason they weren't able to get the Shuffle show in time so they just decided to play an old one instead.
Up where I am we get two showings a day in succession: A new shuffle show, followed by a parallel episode from last season.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to get two shows in one day even if one's a rerun.

Well, today was a shuffle episode but I dunno if it was a continuation from what I missed or not. The first guy started with only one jump the question and had two questions to go before classic Millionaire, the last question being about the Wendy's Baconator. That was one of the easiest questions ever and he jumped it. Anyway, I'm waiting to see what tomorrow will bring.

In markets where two episodes play each day, the rerun is outfitted with the commercial bumpers of the new season. Hence why you saw a season 8 episode with a season 9 mobile game commercial.
