I have received an email back and can now confirm this is Ramon Covalo. ray, thank you for confirming your identity. I’m sorry for the hassle up until now, but it was important that we know you are the real deal.

Perhaps it is much simpler to send me a message via my website. If you do that, I will send you a message back. Problem solved. www.tnc-music.com/contactIt's coming up on about twelve hours since I used your website's contact form, with no response back as of yet. Very strange! I tried to send you a screenshot of my respons but it's impossible to send it because I get this message: Error: This forum has exceeded its attachment space limit. Your file cannot be uploaded. Maybe there can be done something about this.

I tend to think this really is Ramon Covalo, guys. His initial comments suggest that he knows what he is talking about. His analysis about computer produced music is pretty spot on. And that he says his music is commissioned by 2WayTraffic is more specific than how the average imposter would formulate it. If I may, I'd like to ask a question. Why did 2WayTraffic commission new background music? As I understood it, they were also considering commissioning an entirely new theme package for the show. In fact, your website used to have a video with a WWTBAM open and new music. Is that correct? By the way, I think your music is used less these days because in a lot of countries Millionaire is returning out of nostalgia reasons. And the original music is most closely associated with the beginnings of the show. There is a 20-year nostalgia cycle in television. Popular shows from 20 years ago are sometimes brought back because people who grew up watching it are now dead smack in de middle of the commercially attractive demographic of 18-49 year olds. Victor, maybe you are right. I just don't know and I will ask Sony what's the reason why my music is used less.

Also the extremely random hybrids like we had in Australia with previously unused classic strachan cues varients before matthew passed away. Also Covalo if you don't mind could you possibly answer some of the questions here? always been a major fan of your work and followed you closely and all the varients you made for millionaire. regisfan.proboards.com/post/65362 Also would love to know some of the synths you used for your composing on your Logic Pro DAW (Mainly the instrument used on your Q6-10 bed that has the windup) or maybe even an interview depending how comfortable you are with stuff like online voice chats or a text interview. Can either do it through here or through you website whichever you prefer either here or your website if you're interested. Still amazing to see you've been in this community since 2019 and nobody noticed haha.

Sorry for late reply, and it's great to meet you, Ramon! p/s: I love your WWTBAM soundtrack! Shame that we can hear Strachan's music on our version.

Well, I can't miss the opportunity if the real one writes here!
Truth be told, I disliked the new version at first. Maybe because I was like 7 when Rave came out, maybe because I didn't want things to change.. But with years I've started to appreciate it. I'd say it is on par with the OG, just different and all. Like, you feel the tension of Strachans q14 at 0:00 to 0:08 and you feel the same with Covalo's but at 0:08-0:16.
Tho I'd ask why exactly you were asked to add additional SFX at q6-10? And why q6-10 is basically one minute long cuz of different progression while q11-14 is not?
Also I'll say q16 rocks, both versions. My perfectionism just made me do q16 for Strachans back in ~2019 because I just craved to hear that tension on their soundtrack.
You did good, man, real good.

I just don't know and I will ask Sony what's the reason why my music is used less. I’ll be honest, I don’t know where this information regarding the Strachan music came from. The majority of the ongoing versions actually use your music (at least for the most part). The ones that have the full Strachan OST are UK, Germany/Austria, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Slovenia and Poland. There are two cases, though, where only the Q1-5 bed from your OST is used (Sri Lanka, Sweden). Also, it’s nice to finally meet you!

Well, ray , it’s incredible to meet you! We are humbled that you’re interacting with us and sorry that it’s in a thread with this title (perhaps we should change it to “A Chat with Ramon Covalo” instead ). I think a lot of the dissatisfaction with your cues stems not from your compositions, but from the era of the show they debuted in. Millionaire began to de-emphasize the drama it was known for and reinvent itself to be more fun and energetic, and that tonal shift was jarring. I believe that you delivered on your assignment to write a remixed score that reflected that more upbeat tone. As individual tracks, your music is great (I personally love the first tier question bed). As a holistic experience, I just don’t prefer the presentation of Millionaire internationally in the mid-2000s compared to the original, more dramatic era of the show. For what it’s worth, Millionaire in the US had a 100% original score composed for syndication in 2010 and it really hurt the show. Your work stands well above that music to me as a happy medium between the Strachans’ score and something new.

Hi everyone, It is probably a bit strange for you that I suddenly appear here on this forum. It may feel a bit uncomfortable for some. You don't have to self-censor now. Just keep saying what you have to say, but please do so with a little respect. I would like to share some things with you, but I don't feel like having to defend myself here. That is quite useless and you will understand that. I would also like to answer your questions, but you should know that it has been a long time since I made the music and I really can't remember exactly how it all went. And as I indicated earlier, I cannot say everything because I have signed a non-disclosure agreement with Sony that is valid forever. It would be useful for me if one of you collects the questions you want to ask me, because otherwise I have to respond to everyone separately and that will cost me too much time. What surprises me is that some of you are surprised that I have been registered with this platform since 2019. By the way, it is not necessary to register to read everything you write. For example, if I google WWTBAM & Covalo, it is enough to find your comments. Until now I have never felt the need to say anything and I had completely forgotten that I had registered. I think I've only looked (not logged in) a few times in all those years. Of course, it could very well be that Keith (and the late Matthew) Strachan and others on the production side of WWTBAM have also registered or at least have read along.
Anyway, please do me a favor and collect all the questions and I will try to answer them. If that is not possible, for whatever reason, please let me know. Someone asked me if I would like to give an interview through online voice chats or a text interview, but I don't want that.
By the way, I also have a question for you. The program HotSeat (Australia) has been stopped since January 2024. Does anyone know exactly how many times it has been broadcast in 2023 and on which days?

If that's okay for everyone participating in this thread, I can set up a shared Google Docs file, where everyone here can place a question to ask to Ramon.

Does anyone know exactly how many times it has been broadcast in 2023 and on which days? I can't remember how many unique episodes they ran but the general rule of thumb for hotseat was Monday to Thursday were unique episodes while Friday was a repeate from the previous year from someone who lives in Australia. According to the wiki there was 146 unique episodes were aired millionaire.fandom.com/wiki/Millionaire_Hot_Seat_(2023_season)

This shouldn't breach your NDA in any way, but which libraries did you use during the creation of the cues? It took me a very long time to figure out what the Strachans used for their 2008 'remix' cues. I'm still not sure what they used in 1998, probably a commercial sampler. I also find it interesting that the UK cues and the rest of the world are slightly different.
