Hey everyone, I've been learning how to make things on SketchUp over the past 8 months or so. I've been practicing on SketchUp, with constant remakes of the set, repetition over and over again... It's a never ending cycle haha! As of right now, I don't know how to do any of the technical stuff in the dome or the metal trusses yet, but the more I experiment with things, seek guidance and feedback to people who are a lot more experienced and knows the ins and outs when it comes to creating 3D sets in SketchUp, the more my skills will improve. I'd like to share the current progress on my remake of the classic UK set: That's all I have for now. Any kind of feedback is more than welcome!

Nice work. Looks like a very solid start with the classic UK set design (which is my personal favourite).
It's quite unique to see a bird's eye view top-down that way, and it shows how symmetrical and circular it is. 3D modelling isn't my personal creative skill, so I admire anyone who has the talent to create replica sets like this in whichever tool of choice.
I believe you've got the scale and proportions spot on as best as I can tell.

Hey everyone, it's been a while! I've been busy with Provideo Studios recently, producing new exciting shows! I've found some time recently to work on my SketchUp remake of the UK 1998 set. Here are a few updated pics! Until next time... That is my Final Answer.

That's actually coming along really nicely! When I first started using 3D Software i.e. Sketchup, I found it quite difficult to recreate things in there in detail. But I do have more knowledge of it now though.

Dome framework is tricky to get right. But we gettin' there! Just gotta learn how to do the more complicated bits of the set, such as trusses, lighting rigs, the circle cut outs in the centre of the dome... In due time it will come.

Hey everyone, it's been a while. I've had some time over the past week to continue the remake of the UK 1998 set on SketchUp. Here's some new progress pics!Managed to get the pipework done on the barriers, both the bottom curved barrier, and the one at the top as well. It's not the best, but I'm happy with it! The pillars have been updated! With special thanks to alesla for guiding me with how to make the metal outline pipework that goes on the sides of the pillars. 2 bonus shots of the set so far: And... I've been working on remaking another set... It's the 'Quiz' set from the ITV drama programme! Here's the progress thus far: That's all for now, until next time!

Very neatly done indeed, Jayden! The texturing adds depth to the set now, which is building on the existing structure. I've always liked the bird's eye view camera like as used during ATA and before commercial breaks. You've added that very accurately there.
It's quite curious for the "Quiz" set how it's greatly simplified in form. It seems they must've logically done that to cut costs in building a partial set. Yet it's quite clever as from watching the episodes, it didn't seem lacking from the camera angles they used. Of course the rest of the set unseen could be imagined, because we know what it looks like. Looking forward to seeing your continued progress here with the modelling.

Trying something new.
Can any of you guess what set I'm trying to remake? If you guess right, you win... A cup of tea and chocolate digestive biscuits to go with it!

Made some modifications to the pillars, and the dimensions of where the audience bleachers will eventually be. Also mapped out where the FFF podiums will be

Decided to let myself experiment a bit with SketchUp... The set I'm currently working on is not really based on any particular version, but just seeing what I can come up with. I tend to get a bit tired of working on a particular set for a long time, so I like to give myself some flexibility to keep myself ticking
