I wanted to share a few things I noticed about some of the Millionaire music cues. Here goes! Fastest Finger WinThe Fastest Finger win sounds for the U.K. version of the show was always the classic 1,000 win music. The U.S. did something quite similar, and used the 32,000 win music instead, which has a more prominent minor chord and longer notes at the end. Some versions (I can't remember which from the top of my head) use the short host entrance theme. I'm talking about the one used when Jeremy Clarkson walks into the set in the U.K. version. Personally, I don't really like this, because it had that loud sound at the end which you had to wait for to finish. Sounds nice for the host entrance, but rather slow if used for Fastest Finger win. Lastly, we have the walk-away cues for questions 6 to 10. This is the one I dislike most, as it seems rushed. It starts with the first part for the long Millionaire theme, but then instantly cuts to the end. This would work well for walking away before the 2nd safety net, though, because you haven't won as much. The first few episodes for the U.K. and Australian episodes use a different win theme, too long in my opinion. Here the Australian version uses a shortened version of the current Austrian intro. Weirdly, the 32,000 win music is used for both safety-net wins on the British revival. Of course, with adjustable safety nets, the 32,000 win music would be played whenever the contestant reached the second safety net, which would not necessarily be at 32,000. But since I haven't watched full British episodes, with adjustable safety nets, do you people know how the lights down music, question beds, final answer, and answer reveal music would be arranged?

The Australian FFF win cues were also used in Slovenia (2002) and Colombia (2009). I'd say that the Q5/Q2 wins (both classic and rave) would be the best. And, to answer your question on non-safety-net Q10 win cues in the UK, the final answer and lose cues stay the same, the win cue is pitched up by an octave from the £16,000 win, and the let's play cue is a pitched down £100/£2,000/£64,000 let's play cue that sounds horrible in my opinion. It would work better if the £32,000 let's play cue would be played again in my opinion. |
