A Thought on the Clocked Format

Just watched a clip of a previous clocked format, and taking from my online poker playing, I thought this would be interesting.

I'm not sure if this has been proposed before, so I apologize in advance if anyone has proposed this.

Questions 1-5 would have a 20 second timer, Questions 6-10 would be 40 seconds, 11-14 would be 60 seconds, and for the million dollar question, you would get a base of 90 seconds.

In the newest clocked format with a time bank, you got access to the time bank at the final question.

Contestants should get the option to use their time bank by saying "BANK, final," or something to that regard, in which case they are able to use the time they have banked to this point (added on to the question time) to think about the question they are on. Once they choose a final answer, the "banked timer" stops and they still have whatever is remaining in the bank for questions further, but they are unable to "bank" any time from that question.

So, if someone tanks for a while on the 500K question, they lose that time for the million dollar question, which would operate the same as before, with whatever banked time remaining allotted to the question timer.

I think this would be a good balance to the tension of the clocked format but also allows people some more time to consider things, rather than take up half their time focusing on how much time they have.

I think that’s a good idea.

Though, maybe it should be added as a lifeline. One time in the game you can use your so-far banked time, and after that no more.
This of course also means the million goes for 90 seconds if you have use the lifeline already.
It would make a delicate balancing act between banking more time, or taking the time to answer a question you really doubt yourself about.

Why not just have the bank every question? Each question, 15/30/45 seconds is added to the bank.

Q1: 15 seconds.
Q2: 24 seconds.
Q3: 36 seconds...etc.

I don't mind that, that's another possible idea. would put some pressure in the late stages if you got stuck on one earlier.
