I personally would rate him great host, for me Regis and Meredith are like the King and Queen of Millionaire, but Chris is on his way. Chris is third in my book as host of Millionaire.

I think that Chris Harrison is a great host because he certainly adds to the pressure, but so does Chris Tarrant, and Chris T. likes to push the buttons even more with the contestants, making Chris T. one big factor in the average money won. He likes to build up the pressure a lot, and I kind of liked that.

From the few episodes I've watched with Chris Harrison, I'm not sure about him. I certainly think he's a massive step up from Terry and Cedric, but in my opinion, he's nowhere near as good a host as Regis or Meredith, and poles apart Chris Tarrant's standard. He does bring a little suspense to the show during the Final Answer segments, but there still isn't something right about it. Maybe it's the awful music that fails to do anything to the feeling, but to me at least, the tenseness just isn't there. One thing I do like is that he's taken the Tarrant-approach of saying 'Let's play, 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'!' rather than his predecessors shortened 'Let's Play Millionaire!'
Overall, I've certainly seen worse, but I've certainly seen better too.

One thing I do like is that he's taken the Tarrant-approach of saying 'Let's play, 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'!' rather than his predecessors shortened 'Let's Play Millionaire!' Overall, I've certainly seen worse, but I've certainly seen better too. I would have to agree. I never liked how they all shortened the "Let's play Who wants to be a Millionaire" to "Let's play Millionaire". |

He's a good host, but nobody can beat the classic Chris Tarrant.

I believe the shortening of the phrase was actually a production-level decision, not a mere difference in hosting styles. I'm basing that on comments that were made by Regis when he hosted a week of syndicated episodes. He said the full phrase first, then quickly revised it to the shortened version (with a bemused grin) as if prompted by a producer. |
