One thing that's been on my mind recently, was the dreaded clock on the Syndicated version of Millionaire. And how close contestants came to being forced to walk away, and some having to do just that. The question is, does the host receive any notification on their screen that the contestant did in fact answer in time. One notable example of this is right here: youtu.be/lGKxQurtJqw Where Regis almost unintentionally screws over a contestant. She manages to answer in time, the thing is, how did Regis know she beat the clock? The point where she started to state her answer, and the expiration of the clock, was a paltry 00.00.06 before zero. If I were Regis, I would've asked "Did she make it? Or is she out?" When I first watched this episode, I was surprised they let her continue, I thought she was given a break by the show and accepted her answer, only for Mech to point out this wasn't the case. Apparently, if she didn't make it, they would've forced her out, despite it being Regis' fault. There's other examples, too, like this contestant: youtu.be/jIBlZgi1ZxA But you can tell she started her answer before the clock expired, and here: youtu.be/QhoG2ICGTIs The contestant said their answer after the clock expired, meaning she was out. However, in Michelle's case, that was far too close for anyone to tell. So, going back to my original question, does the host screen say if the contestant managed to answer on time?

When recording the episodes, they probably edited the deliberation time between the producers. That's my guess anyway.

The rule was always if the contestant started saying their answer before the clock expired, they were allowed to finish it as long as they immediately followed up with "final answer." The more you watch Michelle's question, the more you can tell it was in plenty of time.
To answer your question, if the contestant answered in time, they would light up their final answer in orange, if they didn't make it in time, nothing would light up. Easy as that.

I would think if that happened because of Regis's talking, any attempt to force her out would be met with a riot from the audience and Regis alike.

The biggest difference I saw was on the 3rd video, she didn't say "final answer", that's what I think made the biggest difference other than the time left. It wouldn't have mattered anyways had her answer been accepted because it was incorrect.

I would think if that happened because of Regis's talking, any attempt to force her out would be met with a riot from the audience and Regis alike. In the comments section, someone said "What if the clock expired before finished the question. Oops, sorry your fault. Next contestant!!" and Mech replied with "Ironically, yes, that's exactly what would happen." Mech also said "she still had 1/15th of a second left on the clock when she began saying "B, Steal Food". As long as she begins saying her answer before the clock expires and says "final answer" without pausing, it's acceptable." So it was a wonder to me how anyone in the control room managed to see that she was still within that 1/15th second time frame to accept her answer. The strap didn't go orange until a few seconds after the clock expired, and Regis announcing she was still in. I do understand the games rules, though. Answer in time, let's see what happens; If you do not, game over. And Millionairefan64, you do have a point, I actually didn't catch that, so thank you for pointing that out. But like you said, she would've gotten $5,000 either way.

millionaireloveruk the reason I thought of that was because back when the clock format first started Meredith stated "If you don't beat the clock AND say final answer, you will be forced to walk away." In this case however, the contestant used Double Dip so she couldn't walk.
