To be honest that is a really difficult question to answer, however I would have to say Carpenter as he was the first and one of the most intelligent men who deserves to go down in history after his Phone a friend call to his dad saying he was going to win and he knew the answer. What a funny person! I also like many other winners to, however I posted possibly the most significant to Millionaire. Just to let you know. I think you should add Robert Essig 'Bob-o'. Even though he did not win the top prize of $10Million he did win $1 Million on Super Millionaire, bearing in mind that you have added Sam Murray who did not go through the entire stack of questions but instead the Tournament of Ten.

I have been searching and I have found out that you cannot edit a poll once posted dut to grounds that it may make previous voters upset as it is unfair. I would suggest that if you like Bob-o just comment below further to the poll!

Carpenter. Technically won without any help. PAF was used to tell his dad he won a million bucks.

As epic as John Carpenter's run was, it's no where near my all time favorite. My favorite win that I remember watching when it happened was Joe Trela's million dollar win. His win in my opinion was the most impressive especially with the fact that he went through the last 5 questions without having a lifeline, and his questions were definitely tougher compared to John Carpenter.
Also, David Goodman's run is probably my 2nd favorite, because he really did pull a John Carpenter until the final question, but I think he earned it much more than Carpenter did.

Ed Toutant gets my vote. He had to face particularly difficult questions, including a faulty question that wound up being thrown out. Played the game well, was smart with his lifelines, and gutsy when he needed to be.

Ed Toutant certainly is admirable I must admit. The fact that he overcame the unfortunate event of having a ridiculous question clearly shows that he is intelligent to then get to the Million: I have been reading this interview with Toutant which i feel is interesting because it gives his opinion about the topic: www.triviahalloffame.com/edtoutant.php

I wish that I was able to choose from more than one because I have two that are definitely my favorites. John Carpenter was the first person worldwide to win the million which was incredible. Nancy Christy however was definitely one of the the most exhilarating millionaire in my book, she won the million with no lifelines from Question 11 forward and when she won there was just a lot of excitement coming out of her and Meredith.

How could I forget Kevin Smith btw? I remember my whole family and I watched his episode when it aired, and we could NOT BELIEVE how gutsy he was on his $500,000 question when he ignored his phone a friend! That still stands as my all time favorite syndicated millionaire win.

Another favourite of mine is Sam Murray, This is because he was the only contestant to win one million dollars with the revised clock format; with nice new graphics and music cues in the special tournament of ten. I would also have to agree that Kevin Smith and Nancy Christy seem like legendary winners because of their personalities and also the fact that they faced tougher questions!

Sam Murray is good, but honestly, he caught a break compared to everyone else. He only answered 12 questions to technically get the million. I really wished that more people went for it during the tournament of ten, but Sam was the only one that really had the guts, and it paid off. On the contrary though, he had less to lose compared to everyone else as well that was ahead of him.
If I had to pick my least favorite million dollar win, at least in terms of excitement, it would have to be Bob House. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing every million dollar winner on the show, but his just didn't feel all that exciting to me.

All it took was a little simple math.
