It's because of THESE contestants that the Phone-A-Friend was so cruelly taken away from us! And to think, some of them actually won!! They ruined it for all of us!

millionairefan28, I can't agree with you more. The same goes for Double Dip. I can see the case for removing Phone-a-Friend, but there's no good reason for canning 50:50/Double Dip.

As millionaire is full of rules like saying "Final Answer" to lock the answer chosen, the contestants should have been forced to read the whole question and 4 possible answers, it would have reduced the cases of internet-searching. What I like though, is that for a lot of them and especially Moe Cane, the time ran out before having the answer. That's what is called karma! I think that people would have reacted badly at the time if he had won the million dollar that way. Idolsfan

I'm surprised they waited until 2009 to drop the lifeline. I really didn't mind seeing it gone, it wasn't my favorite lifeline. I totally understand, today, people would do the internet searches much easier than in the primetime era, as technology and internet speeds for most home consumers increased tremendously. Anyway, it was only a matter of time because there was no rule in place to use the internet, because originally, Millionaire must have never had that in mind.

IIRC, the British show actually had it written into the rules that any PaF caught looking up an answer, even in a book, was grounds for disqualifying the contestant. Obviously it never came to that.

I remember reading somewhere that on the Austrian version, PaFs aren't even allowed to repeat the question in order to avoid other people giving them the right answer. But I agree with millionairefan28, I was never a big fan of Phone a Friend either. It slowed down gameplay and often the person called wouldn't know the answer anyway. Look at the UK People Play special, for example. I don't think any of the PaF were able to help out the contestants.
