Big news everybody. If ABC doesn't order a new episode of ANY Primetime version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire by May, they lose the rights to the show. Then WWTBAM and SM would be up for another network to grab, OR it would fade into the depths of tv history. The question is this: will ABC go for more Super Millionaire, pull something new, or just let it drop?

I'm a little confused Regisfan. If ABC doesn't order a new episode, does this mean season 4 will be the last for the syndicated version and Millionaire will be off the air?

The syndicated version doesn't count- just the Primetime version.

I think it'll fade into oblivion (except on GSN), considering the fact that, ABC just deleted its Millionaire pages (for both Primetime and SM) as well as the online games (Fastest Finger and Hot Seat).

Actually, my understanding was that in May, the rights are simply opened up so that Celador or whoever owns the format can sell it to another network if another network offers more. I don't think ABC automatically loses them now.

Since it is June, the rights SHOULD be up for grabs now. R.I.P. Millionaire on ABC.
