Why did GSN not air the first few episodes of Millionaire, and why did they skip a few episodes during the "rising jackpot" saga, namely the ones right around when Ed Toutant got in the hot seat, the time before he came back and won the million?
Was there a reason for this, or was it an error on GSN's part?

I know they go the rights to air more, but it just makes me mad.
I read that the Ed Toutant episode aired separately (on a special time slot) on ABC- do you think GSN will air that?

I'd like to see them air the 1999 shows. If I had to pick 2 of my favorite 1999 episodes, they'd be Robby Roseman's $100 question bomb-out (August) and John Carpenter's big win (November).

Ed Toutant's return appearance was aired as a special half-hour show on September 7, 2001. His original appearance was cut short because of a flawed question. In some cases they don't air contestants' return appearances, but since Ed won the jackpot they aired it anyway as a special. Because it's a half hour, I wouldn't expect to see it in the normal rotation unless they air it twice back-to-back or pair it with another half-hour episode from 1999 if they get the rights to that package.

So, basically they're airing the hour-only shows (although, when Celebrity I's final show repeated on ABC, they aired it as a 90-minute special, with the edited content added in).

Well, Regisfan, it seems all the shows GSN has gotten so far are the hour-long shows. The August shows were half-hour-long.
From November on, they were one hour long.

Don't forget that when GSN first got Millionaire, after their initial marathon, they played the half-hour shows back to back for a few weeks.

That reminds me of what ABC did for 2 weeks before Kim Hunt won his million (they re-aired all of the August shows, which were 30 minutes long).
