I must say, Australia has colourful money, compared to the bland notes used in the US/UK version Anyway, because they only started taping today, they would have learnt the mistakes from the US version hopefully, like pacing and question writing

As long as it has more gameplay than commercials it is better than the American version.

An airdate has been announced - this Monday, only 6 days to go. They've put it in the timeslot where Classic Millionaire was a ratings hit - 8:30pm Monday. Hopefully it goes well. The 4 promos that have appeared on YouTube show that it is near identical to the US studio, no idea on other aspects. Here's the first promo I saw:
I'll try post the first episode. BL

No. No. NO! The American format is spreading!!! NOOO!!! I wouldn't say that the American format is bad; however, the unnecessarily long reveals and blah question writing, as well as a predictable end to every game, is. (Although the pacing in general did get better as the show continued.) Of course, I would say that the British format is better, but the American format isn't so bad as to be a game-killer. I do prefer the American set, though. Actually, I like it a lot. Glad they used it in Australia.

The American version actually improved greatly as it went along. I found myself enjoying the show by the end of its run. The pacing picked up immensely. It's a rare example of a show that listened to audience feedback before it was too late. I hope we see it again this summer.
I'm crossing my fingers that the Australians paid attention to what our version did right and wrong and makes a great end product.

Alright, the first episode has been aired. Set is exactly same as the US version, but I think the pacing is much better. It's approximately 8 questions in 40 minutes, which is 5 minutes each, which is acceptable. The only difference is that we have 8 questions, not 7.
First couple did well - held on to $1 Million for 3 questions, then eventually won with $180,000 (they were aiming for $160,000 for a wedding and honeymoon) so congratulations to them!
Here's the first part, find the rest from the video.
Enjoy!

Episode 2: $640,000 loss on the FINAL QUESTION!!! It's interesting how a $800,000 loss on a minor middle question can cause such a fuss when it had no effect on the game, yet a $640,000 loss here, a proper loss on the last question is worth nothing. It is noted though, that the question was a bit ambiguous (http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/03/mmillion-dollar-mmoney-drop-on-mms.html). But $640,000 is much greater than the $468,000 lost on a WWTBAM $1 Million question. Anyway, ratings are so-so. Not sure about the future of this. Also, we had a $250,000 (US $500,000) question loser this week. Thought you may want to know. BL

Episode 3: $140,000 win! They lost $600,000 on question 1, battled it out to Q8: What is the most commonly used letter in the English Alphabet? A or E? The answer was E.
It's interesting that so far, every single couple has reached Q8 - 2 have won, 1 has lost.

The most commonly-used letter? Wow, I thought that was a tad bit easy for the final question. Anyway, looks like there's a lot of money being won in Australia!
