Hello from Italy!

My name is Manuel, I’m 18 years old and I'm from Milan, Italy.


I was born one year after Who Wants to be a Millionaire? premiered in the UK and one year before the show started airing in Italy, for this reason I have been a Millionaire fan dating back as far as I can remember, as I grew up watching the show until its closure in 2011. Some years ago I started watching international versions, including the Shuffle Format and the 20th Anniversary revival in the UK and I can say that, compared to them, the Italian version was awful. Apart from the host, who was fairly good, the graphics were terrible, as they didn’t use the original Conduit ITC font, and also the studio was somehow incomplete and had a strange lighting system. I think I will post a brief summary of the Italian version (and explain why I don’t like it) in a separate thread.


I’m trying to create a database to collect as many questions as I can from different versions of Millionaire to use them as inspiration and to understand which topics may result more difficult than others, as I am a huge fan of game shows and I spend part of my spare time writing trivia questions. I'm currently studying Communication and New Media, as in the future I hope to become a television writer. I’m very shy and I find it difficult to express myself, but I’ll try to contribute as much as I can, as I noticed that in this forum there are many people that share my interests.

Yes, it's a Clarkson reference, I watched the 20th Anniversary in May and I really enjoyed it! I don't like the choice they made for the money tree graphics, they were terrible, but the rest was perfect: the classic music, the LED floor and Fastest Finger First, absolutely fantastic!

Actually it was the first time I had seen him on TV, as I knew he had previously hosted Top Gear but I've never watched that show.

I saw that many people don't agree with the fact that ITV made Jeremy Clarkson host the show, as especially in the first episode he was not supportive and made fun of the contestants while they were struggling with the first few questions, but I liked him, he was entertaining and quite funny. I really hope ITV decides to bring the show back for another (full) season with Jeremy Clarkson as the host.

What did you think of him?

I've always been a fan of Clarkson, even if his opinions are controversial more often than not. He was great on Top Gear and continues to be a hit on The Grand Tour. I wasn't sure how he'd fit in on Millionaire but I really liked him. He was different to any other host I'd seen before but for me, it worked. I'd really like to see more of him on it.
