Hello everyone ! Today, I've got something really interresting for you guys ! Two days ago, I was on Keith Strachan's site, looking at the work he has done throughout these years. When I went to the 'CV' section of the site, scrolled down, and saw (next to 1998) Who Wants To Be A Millionaire highlighted in blue, I clicked on it, of course. Now, you must wonder, what did I find by clicking on it ?... Well, listen to this: There's two links, one will direct you to the 'CV' section of the site (you'll just have to scroll down 'till you find " 1998 Who Wants To Be A Millionaire ITV". The second link is a downloadable one. (just copy and paste the link if it doesn't work ) : drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B6rNOoRA5vgtTElSeDFCWV9UTTA The original one is this : Main Theme. But when you listen to Keith Strachan's variant, it's a little bit different. Well, you see ?! actually you listened ?! Quite interresting isn't it ? Any explantion or anything else on this music would be highly appreciated. Thank you ! PS: Yeah, I'm quite proud of what I found ! lol

Great find Amillionaire. I challenge you to now find the original (clean and full cut) final answer cues for Questions 11-15. If you somehow find these (I unfortunately do not think you will find them) I and everyone else here will be forever grateful.

I like it. The dots sound great. Maybe for secondary usage, commercial, radio or extended cues?

ausgameshowfan : Oh yeah ! I'd love to find them !...but as you said, I think it's nearly impossible (if not completely impossible). But, we never know...maybe I'll find it or someone else will, somehow, find it. ------------------ GSK : Haha ! I tried to shazam it and guess what... ...It didn't work... . lol ------------------ JCEurovision : What do you mean ? Could you develop your opinion ? ------------------ elgatosaez : Me too, I love it !

Amillionaire, it sounds good, but it's way off because of the dots, it sounds futuristic, in my opinion.

Disregard what I said earlier, a restart of my computer did the trick. Now it works fine.

Nice find! I'm pretty sure I came across this cue earlier but never paid much attention to it. The louder arpeggios make it sound quite unusual and quirky.
How did the theme come about? (Warning: This is just a speculation, supported with previous findings in the field of TV music.) Usually, when any kind of a soundtrack is made, there is a constant exchange between the composers and the producers. Composers provide a premix of the track, producers go "how about try removing the trumpet" or "perhaps add extra hi-hats" or something more or less specific than that. That way, there are a couple of dozen premix versions made of the particular track, until the final version is chosen and mastered properly.
I'm guessing this particular theme is one of the premixed versions, with louder arpeggios and (I think, correct me if I'm wrong)one of the chords changed. Why did Strachan choose to feature that version and not the original on the site? That could be due to licensing - technically that track hasn't been used on the show, it's not on the CD, not provided in the music package from 2waytraffic etc. That said, as mentioned plenty of times on this board, Strachans kept full rights to their music so the licensing works differently and this argument may not apply.

Thank you very much Tim0n for these really interesting and useful informations and for giving your point on view on this, I really appreciate it. I didn't notice if one of the chords changed. I tried to listen to both of them and tried to notice it but I don't think any chords changed. I really think that what you said about the constent exchange between the Strachans and the producers is true and that's how this "exclusive" music ended-up on his site.
