That was my first "raised eyebrow" moment that they were bringing it back.

What I thought was even stranger: in the episode, they used the Classic money tree, but a close-up of the computer screens showed this:

When I saw that, I was thinking why would they go the trouble of making a brand-new money tree, just for a one-off sitcom sketch? And then not even use it?

I really think it might have foreshadowed what's to come... But we'll have to wait and see!

That would be good. But can't they just use the classic money tree from 1999? In my opinion the original money tree would be the best

The money amounts for the classic money tree are way too low nowadays due to inflation imo.

Now that’s an interesting observation. And I do think the second safety net needs to be higher in this day and age, so that change would make sense.

I like the way the original money tree looks best, and feel they could still use it today. Ultimately, I think the Fresh Off the Boat money tree is probably what they are going to use and that's okay because they are giving away more money. I hope they do the adjustable safety net for the second milestone.

I wanted to add: Regis looked really good hosting on the Fresh Off the Boat show. It would be great if he was there as a surprise guest, as well as Meredith. He did a great job hosting the show, wish he would take the reigns for a couple of shows.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Regis shows up at some point. He’s friends with both Kimmel and Davies, so the odds seem good for a special appearance akin to Meredith’s in 2009. And I agree, I’d love for Meredith to show up, as well!

So, after watching the episode of Fresh Off the Boat, I sincerely hope that they build a completely new set for the Primetime Return. As someone who has been on both versions of the set both as an audience member and a contestant, I can say the new one for HD broadcasting is smaller than the old one. I always tried to figure out how much smaller and how the chairs would look on the current set. After seeing it, I was kind of disappointed to say the least.

It was AWESOME to see the hot seats and the screens back, but they were WAY TOO BIG for the space. Additionally, they were turned sideways to get the stairs and columns that were to the side of the set (where the money tree was projected) for the later Vieira/ Cedric/Crews/Harrison era. Leaving the section where the giant screen was either open for the crane camera, or awkwardly placed audience members. Also the original seating was not installed, but rather risers with awkward corners that came down next to the stairs instead of onto them. It also appeared that only the floor lighting was installed for use. Again, this may have all been for the episode of Fresh off the Boat, but I sincerely hope they take more care and put much more detail into making the set dark/ useful for the primetime version.

Finally the lighting, PLEASE GOD tell me we are not going to use the floor spots going UP when the lets play music is played.. (and please don't use the version of the soundtrack used for this episode, just no, the original score was so much better)

Overall, I am soooooooo excited for Primetime, and sincerely hope they put in a valiant effort to restoring the set, and making a quality production. It just seems like they went to a lot of trouble to assemble it this was for an episode of an unrelated show. Time will tell I suppose. Also if anyone hears any word on tickets, please post it. I have cleared my schedule between now and April to make it for a taping!

I don't think they will use the set from Fresh Off the Boat for the actual episodes, but that might just be wishful thinking...

I am as excited as everyone else about this new revival. What's really weird though is that this new show is allegedly celebrating the show's 20th anniversary when that has already passed. Well, at least this is going to be better than the final syndicated season, which is completely nothing like the original with the graphics, music, and the set.

I don’t think the set used in the Fresh Off the Boat episode will actually be used. My guess is that a new set will be constructed. And I would love to see Regis make a guest appearance.

This is wonderful! I'm glad there's renewed interest in Millionaire. I've always felt that if the show were to go off the airwaves, it should've done so being the show we all remember and loved. I really hope they do this revival some justice, even if it is only for celebrities. Michael Davies' involvement definitely gives me hope for that.

If they're reviving the show they can make a new set too. They could make a set similar to the UK one, but the studio from the shuffle era and up until it's cancellation is in my opinion the worst one. I hope that they will build a new set.

This is the most exciting thing I've seen in quite some time!

I certainly hope to God that the original cues from Keith and Michael Strachan are used. I'm not saying that the Ah2 cues are bad, but they just are not Millionaire. Except the medium difficulty question cue and the original shuffle theme was boring and uninspiring. No excitement at all. And the fact that the final answer/correct cue had no tempo increases as the questions progressed....just...no excitement! And also, the studio needed to darken more during harder and harder questions.

To me, the reason that the clock format worked was because they remixed the original themes into something cool. It added more tension to the tension already there because of the heartbeat strings. The clock format took something good and made it even better even though I do think some of the time limits should've been increased a tad, especially for the earlier questions. 15 seconds just isn't much time. But I'd rather see that version return over the shuffle/Chris Harrison format any day! Not saying Chris was a bad host because I actually enjoyed him...but I dunno what the official title of that version was called.

By the way, Divvy, I watched your episode and I loved your Regis impersonation! It was quite entertaining to say the least. But even though we know the Reege is getting on in years and not able to keep up like he did 20 years ago...he helped bring the magic out of Millionaire. He has a unique personality and I love his jokes and quick wit. I still like watching Ken Basin's run even during the million dollar question blunder, I just loved how Regis would joke around during the entire time and make it that much more enjoyable to watch. While I loved Meredith as a host, she still didn't quite have the same magic Regis Philbin did and I don't think anyone ever will. "It's getting more tense by the second!" "Remember, we're going for a million dollars here! We're not playing any games!" -In response to what he'd have on his buttons "A glass of warm milk!"

I also hope they create a much needed improved logo. The season 17 logo will not cut it. This is one of the most popular and influential game shows of all time and this is the logo they used for the final season? Yes, it looked much better in motion on set but seeing it on its own, it's my least favorite logo they have ever used. Surely this would never be the logo they use for the 20th US anniversary.

I completely agree with you.
Now that the show's coming back they might use the new international graphics and format  from BankGiro Miljonairs, Tko Želi Biti Milijunaš etc. I would really love that format to come to the USA. And the USA never got the opprotunity to use the Rave music. So that would be new for them.
