Hopefully, this could lead to Sony gaining full control of the US version, and having the show return to its classic format, in primetime. But, we'll have to find out.

the only reasons it is canceled, for me, are the removal of the hot seat and the change of the musics. If they kept the Strachans musics (or adopted some Rave musics) and the hot seat, the show would probably last longer.

I hope ABC will be able to revive it just like they did with the other game shows.

Sad, but we knew it was coming. Hopefully ABC will revive it bigger and better than ever...soon. When they do, I hope they fix the logo, graphics, music, camera angles, and revert back to the original hot seats and lighting. I have been enjoying the UK episodes immensely since they have returned, more so than the syndicated version. Hopefully they are taking note. Since I won’t have anymore Millionaire to watch maybe I’ll have to apply for the Fan Games area of the website! 😂

The U.S. branch of Sony Pictures Television also produces Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. so hopefully the production team also moves to produce the revival version of the show.

This is sad news, but hopefully this incarnation’s demise will allow a better version to emerge in the next few years. Millionaire will return, we just need to be patient. In the meantime, we have the excellent UK revival to enjoy.

A show never dies. Just for you guys to get some hope, currently several countries in the EU have a revived version running or upcoming. Tbh i think its the best that could happen to the US version. By that there is now a good chance that in a few years the show can shine again with a good revival, Classic Style, Hot Seats and all the old elements. Of course its sad to see the show going for its 20th anniversary :/ but heads up Also i have to say it has been a pleasure working with my fellow team members. Over the last 3 years my team and i collected WWTBAM US Syndicated Episodes with Chris Harrison. And no matter what will happen to the show itsself, the memories and highlights will stay. When season 17 ends our little collection on the youtube channel: youtube.com/MillionaireWanted38 will have 640 episodes of WWTBAM US with Chris Harrison. and that is quite some amount of episodes for re-watching and reminding where the show was (640*20min/60min => 213,33hours of WWTBAM Syndication) So with that in mind, heads up everybody and hope for something really good in the future

I’ve been waiting patiently for this day. The show has made too many changes. Hopefully it’ll lead to a better version by Sony. So, this means, no 20th anniversary special?

This is indeed sad news, but not surprising. This day must come to put the show out of its misery. Hopefully it will come back one day, better and stronger after Sony or ABC regains control of it.

After twenty years, the final answer is upon us.
All good game shows get a reboot when the time is right, and Millionaire will be no exception. Twenty years is a great run. Let it rest, and see what can become of it in a few years.

It was expected. Millionare is a great show within its primetime, but sadly decreased just because of the producer's thought that it should be changed. I think we need to just wait a little bit,for 1-2 years to make its back to ABC again, because I really don't trust to other networks.

This is both appalling and sickening. After twenty years, the news confirmed on Variety truly marked the end of an era.

Just curious to see If the U.S.A. gonna' follow most of the international versions leading by Sony. A brand new and improved set, new host and re-energized OST.

I wouldn’t be surprised. It would mark a fresh start for the US series.
