So, almost 9 years since the original show had ended in Greece, it was brought back... well, the Hot Seat format was. In my opinion, the Hot Seat format isn’t Millionaire with a twist. It’s just a pointless distortion of the game. The Pass lifeline essentially gurantees that unless a player is exceptionally good, they will leave with nothing and that the last of the six players will have the chance for the prize.
In Greece the questions were so random and required such a specific knowledge of pointless things to know, that you wouldn’t find them engaging. You couldn’t enjoy the players, you couldn’t enjoy the questions and you could not even enjoy the host. That guy, while a talented artist, made the Millionaire set into a stage for bouzouki and tradional Greek dances at least once!
I guess this post is just me being frustrated because they managed to stay on air for 2 seasons, rarely giving out more than €500 a day. You would rarely see a player that could respond to the questions, most of them out of luck. I realize that people from other countries would have a much more respectable atmosphere in their versions of the show, but zi think Hot Seat remains a flawed Millionaire concept. I didn’t want to resurrect old threads and couldn’t easily one about the Hot Seat, but either way, I also wanted to give you a little info on the ridiculousness of the Greek Hot Seat.
What are your opinions on the Hot Seat format in general? 😁
