Recently I've found the first advert for the Polish version of WWTBAM: "Milionerzy". It looks quite interesting, to say the least. This is the advert I'm talking about.Translation: Call the most important number in your life! Become a contestant on "Milionerzy", a quiz with the highest prizes in Poland. Pick up the phone and call the number shown on screen. Answer a question, and you can win 10 billion old zlotys (1 million current zlotys). Everyone has an equal chance! Milionerzy starts this September (1999) at TVN. I'm interested to know why does it look like this? Especially since no other advert looks like this. Not only that, it seems to use Dutch graphics theme, and then it suddenly changes. (Advert recorded in August 1999). Any ideas?

I'm bumping a thread to answer your question as to why it looked like this. I have a theory on this. You see, we purchased the licence for the show from the Dutch company Endemol. Hence why the background seen on the first advert is from the Dutch version of the program. I think they were going along with using the assets from the Dutch, ie. blue question lozenges, the blue BG and the animated BG for the credits. I think it was the last-minute decision to ditch the first two things mentioned, and go with the black lozenges and the UK background for the FFF reveal, money tree, etc. You could still see the blue animated BG on the " last show recap" and on the credits at the end. Hope it answered your problems.

The Dutch version would change shortly after this as well. It adopted a more traditional logo for example.
My theory is that Celador, which held the rights to the format, started mandating that all versions look exactly the same. Some of the countries that were among the first to acquire the rights to the show (i.e. the Dutch and the Australians) had some notable differences from the original British format. I think the Australians had fewer questions for example. As 2000 came around and the show exploded in popularity all over the world, deviations from the original format were not allowed any more by Celador.
