I don’t know if you guys know this, or if this has happened in other versions too, but in Greece they didn’t call it “the computer” as in most English-speaking versions. They called it “teras” (=the beast), lol. The host would often remark on how the player needed to “fight and take down the beast” or “show us, beast, the correct answer”, or “beast, take away two wrong answers”. It was a novelty that was fn to watch before the Internet gave us access to international versions, but it was kinda corny in my opinion. However, the Greek host was an exceptionally skilled actor and tv presenter, Spyros Papadopoulos, so most of the times you wouldn’t feel something was out of place. What are your thoughts on this? Did your local version have anything similar?

I've never heard of a version of Millionaire where they call the computer "The Beast" or something like that! It sounds like something from a low-budget, kid-contestant version of the show. This reminds me of when in Wheel 2000 (a kid-contestant version of "Wheel of Fortune" from 1997), they call "Bankrupt" "The Creature" and say that when the contestant lands on it, "The Creature" eats up all of your points.
EDIT: I just realized that it also reminds me of the UK game show "The Cube" where the host constantly tells contestants to "Beat the Cube" and before each round starts, he says "Cube... play the game" and tells "The Cube" to give the contestants some advantages to help them overcome rounds that they are stuck on. They treat the Cube as if it really was some sort of a beast and it must be beaten!

I actually think that's kind of clever. It changes the dynamic by giving the contestant an adversary, similar to the banker from DOND.
As cheesy as it may seem in 2018, it was a novelty that the computer was essentially a "character" in the show back in the day. It made 50:50 a bit more interesting, at the very least.
