How it works is the 6 contestants get introduced as normal. But they each have a touch screen in front of them. Then Eddie introduces the Fastest Finger First segment. However instead of being just one question and the fastest is straight into the hot seat, there are 15 questions. The contestant who answers all questions in the fastest time is then instantly given $1,000. However it doesn't matter which contestant wins the $1,000, the contestant in seat one is put into the hot seat. The game is then played as normal, the pass lifeline is still available to all contestants just once.
Once the contestant who has won the $1,000 enters the hot seat, and they come across a question they are unsure of, he or she has the option to 'buy' one of 3 lifelines: 50:50, Ask a Friend or Swith the Question. By choosing a lifeline, the contestant must surrender the $1,000 to Eddie.
Then the game is played as usual. I'm not sure whether the contestant can choose to keep the $1,000 if they get a question wrong though. But it would suck if they had to give it up.
It's good to hear the original FFF cues, brought back memories of the classic version. I personally would like to see the original version return, maybe once a week in prime time even, and have the hot seat version for the rest of the week.
Hope this helps.

Not the best quality. But it's the best that I can do. (Hopefully it's not DMCA'd..)

The terms and conditions i.e. the rules for Hot Seat haven't been updated on 9's registration website.

The terms and conditions i.e. the rules for Hot Seat haven't been updated on 9's registration website. Maybe during the next audition period. Also jlaw20, I'm pretty sure they get to keep the $1,000 from Fastest Finger First if they're out on an earlier question. The strategy would theoretically play out as: "I have an inkling of this answer but I'll use the lifeline to confirm it", "I have no clue what the answer is but I'm going to keep my check and move to the back of the queue", or "Screw it! I'll keep the check, take a guess and wreck the game for everyone else."

I like the fact that they've brought back FFF, but i think they might've screwed it up a little.

I was never a big fan of Hot Seat, and now I like it even less. The Fastest Finger segment just drags on without much happening. And for the lifeline to be of any use, you have to be lucky more than anything.

Retched, yeah you're right I missed Eddie saying that on the first episode, they do get to keep it. Potentially they can win an extra $1,000 if they're lucky enough to get in to the hot seat for the final question and get it wrong.
It felt a bit awkward having there being 15 FFF questions. Just seemed to drag on a bit. Even though they spread it out over 2 segments.
The lifelines being back does bring back elements of the classic, but it's annoying that they only get to use one lifeline. Even if they could make it that you pay $500 for each, therefore you get to use 2. The pass doesn't guarantee you a second chance, but having 2 lifelines would help a lot.

Total disaster. 15 FFF questions is beyond overkill. During those questions, you can watch the first matchup of The Chase. And here I thought they were bringing back the solo game, but no. It's still the broken format from before, and... ... We see just how broken it is. Our featured player have over twenty correct answers and won nothing while the next person won $1000, and a chance at $250,000, without lifting a finger.
