Karpov was, especially around the late 70s, early 80s, Kasparov followed him soon after, Topalov I thought was actually Bulgarian, but I don't recall anyone named Andropov as a Grandmaster. D makes the most sense of these, since, well, I can't recall anything about someone with that surname; D, final.
