So, I've found a documentary about WWTBAM, titled "Is that your Final Answer"? It's an insight about the history of this show... nothing that we haven't already seen... except...
The interesting part comes between minutes 14:30 and 17:30... this is a (fairly) rare footage straight from the pilot version of WWTBAM (the one done one week before the original premiere of the UK show)...
Have a look, it really is a valuable document. What do you think?

It's amazing to see the difference in security between the US show and the UK show. In the US, S&P likely won't allow the host to interact with contestants during rehearsal, and the idea of having a beer with him after the show is mind-blowing. Not that I wouldn't have loved it.

I think US S&P just trusted the hosts a LOT more than the did the UK. I mean both had the same outlook on the scandals so they both were trying to not make the show tank.
I heard several instances on other shows where the contestants were just outright nervous about seeing the host backstage. I think the contestant coordinator's just scared the fear of God into them. (There was one story on the original Match Game where one of the contestants was walking backstage was mortified just to SEE him.)
